Territorial agreements: Castell de Calaf
The "Espai, Poder i Cultura" Consolidated Medieval Studies Research Group establishes research agreements with local and district entities to contribute to knowledge about the medieval origins of the area while also contributing the results to the more general medieval history of Catalonia.
Objectives:
The “Castell de Calaf” agreement covers various activities based on the municipal area of Calaf to extend our information of its medieval past to promote the knowledge of the medieval period. The tasks to be carried out are:
1. Archaeological excavation in Calaf Castle.
2. Work camp on the perimeter around Calaf Castle.
3. Study of the evolution of the original nucleus of Calaf.
4. Documentary study of the origins and evolution of Calaf.
5. Prospection around Calaf Castle.
Team:
The UdL will seek the required personnel for each of these objectives and phases of the work to reach the targets. The person in charge in the UdL is Flocel Sabaté Curull, director of the "Espai, Poder i Cultura" Consolidated Medieval Studies Research Group and for Calaf Town Council, the person in charge is the Mayoress, the honourable Mrs. Maria Antňnia Trullŕs i Povedano. The archaeological work is coordinated by Jesús Brufal.
Chronology:
August 2006. The Research Group designs archaeological actions for Calaf Castle directed by Jesús Brufal.
8 February 2007. Signing of the official agreement between the University of Lleida and Calaf Town Council.
